Windows XP Broadband Internet Connection Wizard

Here is a guide to show you how to set your PC up so you can connect to caninter.net. You can do this by using the Internet Connection Wizard that comes built in to Windows XP.

To configure Windows XP for a broadband connection using PPPoE

  1. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Network and Internet Connections, and then click Network Connections.
     
  2. Under Network Tasks, click Create a new connection, and then click Next.
     
  3. Click Connect to the Internet, and then click Next.
     
  4. Click Setup my connection manually, and then click Next.
     
  5. Click Connect using a broadband connection that requires a user name and password.
     
  6. In the Connection Name dialog box, type CANINTER. This becomes the name of the connection. Click Next.
     
  7. In the Internet Account Information dialog box shown in Figure 1 below, type the user name and password. Additional checkboxes allow you to specify whether this connection and its user name and password is available to all users (selected by default), whether this connection is your default Internet connection (selected by default), and whether to enable the Internet Connection Firewall on the connection (enabled by default). Make the appropriate selections, and then click Next.

Configuring the Internet Account Information

  1. In the Completing the Connection Wizard dialog box, review the settings. If you need to modify any of them, click Back as many times as necessary. If all the settings are correct, click Finish.
     
  2. In the Connect dialog box, click Connect to attempt the connection.

 

 

Your PC should now be all ready to connect to the Internet.

To get online just double click onto the Internet Explorer icon on your Desktop to surf the Web.

Outlook Express

Step 1: Open Outlook Express.

Step 2: Click the "Tools" menu, and select "Accounts".

Step 3: Click on "Add" and choose "Mail".

Step 4: Type in your full name and click on "Next".

Step 5: Type in your e-mail address (as shown in the table below) and click on "Next".

Step 6: Ensure that POP3 is selected. Type in the incoming mail server and outgoing mail server (as shown in the table below) and click on "Next".

Step 7: Type in your username (your full e-mail address ) and your password and click "Next".

Step 8: Click on "Finish".

Step 9: Double-click on the account you have just created.

Step 10: Select the Servers tab.

Step 11: Under the Outgoing Mail Server section at the bottom of the window, place a checkmark in "My server requires authentication".

Step 12: Make sure you have the correct username in the "Account name", (as shown in the table below). Make sure you have the correct e-mail password

Step 13: Click OK.

 

Microsoft  Outlook

Step 1: Open Outlook.

Step 2: From the "Tools" menu select "E-mail Accounts".

Step 3: Select "Add a new e-mail account", and click "Next".

Step 4: Select "POP3", and click "Next".

Step 5: In the "Your Name" field, type your name.

Step 6: In the "E-mail Address" field, type your email address (as shown in the table below).

Step 7: Ensure that POP3 is selected. Type in the incoming mail server and outgoing mail server (as shown in the table below) and click on "Next".

Step 10: In the "Password" field, type your e-mail password.

Step 11: Click the "More Settings" button.

Step 12: Select the "Outgoing Server" tab.

Step 13: Place a checkmark in "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication".

Step 14: Ensure that "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" is selected.

Step 15: Click "OK".

Step 16: Click the "Next" button.

Step 17: Click the "Finish" button.
